Speaker, Mic so quite? Can I enhance touchscreen experience
Hi,
I've just recovered my device (MHK 802, one speaker with screws) by factory resetting it. I'm back at the start, but now I'm meber of this forum and I can ask few starting questions...
1. Do you also find speaker quite and not so good ?
2. Can I increase mic sensitivity anywhere? It seems that one has to put mic really close to mouth...
3. Touchscreen is not tha state of the art. How do you cope with screen shaking left-rigth on longer presses? Or how do you cope if you want to drag icon with fingers across desktop? Can this behaviour be somehow enahnced or compensated ?
4. A lot of apps just dies on startup - is this somehow problem that is related to this device and Firmware/Drivers combo? If yes, any better options ?
Thanks in advance,
regards,
Bulek.

Re: Speaker, Mic so quite? Can I enhance touchscreen experience
Hi Bulek,
You have the same model as mine. I've had mine since December and am generally quite happy with it. I hope I can help you a little.
1. The speaker on mine is also quiet, I believe this is common to many cheap tablets, I just use earphones.
2. I don't use the mic myself, but again I'm guessing it's low quality to save money.
3. I also had a very unstable touchscreen, I updated my firmware to the latest version and now it's still not perfect but it's a lot better.
4. As for the apps dying at startup, do you mean preinstalled apps or apps you have downloaded? I also find many downloaded apps don't work at all or just not well. This is because the android OS was written for mobile phones and tablets are quite new by comparison. Some apps use features just not build into tablets or just not very well setup, such as the g sensor.
It's not ideal but as our tablets cost a fraction of what you pay for an ipad we just have to put up with these small problems and hope that in time the hardware/firmware and apps quality improves. Joining this forum was a good idea, it helped me and I hope it helps you.
Good luck. Mark

Hi, thanks for info. Regarding touchscreen and your upgrade of firmware would kindly add few questions : - which firmware is the best to upgrade ? - Is it safe to try new FW and possible to go back if something goes wrong ? - Did you do anything else to improve touchscreen behaviour beside upgrading FW ? Thanks in advance, regards, Bulek.

Re: Speaker, Mic so quite? Can I enhance touchscreen experience
Hi Bulek,
I tried firmware build 1218 and 0106, both from this forum. I found the 0106 better but I've read reports from some people having problems with the screen being upside down. I think there are utilities to copy your old firmware but before you start look in the root directory of the internal card for 4 files called.
system.img system.md5 uramdisk.img uramdisk.md5
these are the firmware install files. If your tablet has these, you can back them up to another folder or another TF card. When you install new firmware it is new copies of these files.
Jiongtang has a very useful post, step by step with pictures which tells you everything you need to know. If you upgrade and it causes problems, you can copy you old files back to the root directory and reinstall your old firmware. But as you seem to have the same model as me and I had no problems, I think it should work for you.
I didn't do anything else as I am happy with my touch screen now, but I read and article about taking the tablet apart and inserting a thin spacer between the screen bezel and the front cover to increase the distance between the screen and the touch surface by a fraction of a millimeter. I think it was on this forum but if you are interested and can't find it, I'll have a look around and post the link here.
I hope this was helpful to you and makes your tablet a little more useful to you.
All the best Mark
