 Browsing the internet
Just recently Opera released their Opera Mini browser for WinCe.
A couple days ago I loaded it to my original A81 and it runs extremely well. I have been attempting to install each of Opera's revisions over the last few months but this is the first time I've been able to get it to function properly.
I have about half-a-dozen various browsers on my A81 and I can say without a doubt that this newest Opera Mini is by far the best of them all. It runs extremely fast; has a good clean interface; it opens pages which previously were a no-go on the A81; it opens both the full-featured site and if there's a mobile version, it can open them both (mobile facebook opens instantaneously). The touch interface is the best I've seen yet on a WinCe device... pages zoom and scroll smoothly with the touch of a finger!
And the icing on the cake is it connects to Opera's link site which lets you interchange info between your various computers. Example: I have several hundred favorites/bookmarks on my work computer and the A81 accessed and displayed every one of those bookmarks quickly. They were even organized in the individual folders just like the work computer.
There are a few bugs still. The most frustrating is when the browser is running, the taskbar and access to other apps seems to be disabled. The only way to get to any other program is to close Opera first.
But despite a few minor drawbacks, this newest incarnation of Opera Mini allows the A81 to finally achieve the browsing capability which it has always lacked in the past.
