Post [TOOL] FlashTool/PackTool for M8 incl. latest 1028 firmware |v3.0| UPDATE 23/11/2011
Here is the FlashTool/PackTool suite for our tablets modified and translated to English. Updated on 23/12/2011

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any errors in the translation, most of the translation is done with google translate and my

experience.
Also, I'm not responsible if you brick your devices, use at your own risk
Feel free to make any improvements to the translation and post them here to include in next version.

I recommend to wipe the whole internal sdcard before flashing to assure the partition sizes will be right. You will find info in the FAQ.

Changelog:
v3.0 - 23/12/2011
* Translated everything in FlashTool.exe in English. No Chinese dialogs left.
* Changed /cache partition size from previous 32MB setting to 64MB (fix market downloads)
* Fixed how-to change boot.logo (You have to reflash whole rom using this way)
* Included how-to flash firmware
* Made 2 versions: one with just the flash tools and one that includes the latest firmware 1028 for M8 1GB version (if you want me to make another for 512

version tell me)

v2.0 - 24/11/2011
* Resized /data partition back to default 750MB

v1.0 - 21/11/2011
Flash Tool:
* Renamed vortex_flash_fajue_core_256x8_1G.ini to config.ini and Vortexflash.exe to FlashTool.exe
* Translated SDPackTool.ini and config.ini comments from Chinese to English
* Cleaned up layout in SDPackTool.ini and config.ini for better reading and understanding when modding
* Changed default icon of FlashTool.exe to a more matching icon
* Fixed program version and other minor tweaks
* Tested FlashTool, works ok

Pack Tool:
* Translated readme.txt and Res.ini from ResPack folder
* Translated vortex_packet.ini
* Translated PackTool.exe to English
* Changed default icon of PackTool.exe to a more matching icon
* Fixed program version and other minor tweaks
* Found out how to change boot logo
* Wrote a small how-to change the boot logo

Bugs:
* Some dialogs in the PackTool application are still in Chinese

ToDo:
* Find out how PackTool generates the .pak files
* Test PackTool options to modify other files except boot.logo

Hi it works as it should. I couldn't flash using method 1, so I had to use method 2. Is there any way to translate the dialogs though? The errors are in Chinese, which kind of ruins the whole point :).

I haven't found any way to translate the dialogs. Also, flashing mode 1 never worked for me, I always use mode 2.

Are Flashtool andf Recovery for 1 GB Version only ? Or can they be used for the 512MB Version too? Thanks.

In the beggining, I always used method 2, but now, with latest firmware, all works with method one.

BY THE WAY, mikeNG:

The way you explain on "how to change boot logo" without loosing data, DOES NOT WORK.

I mean, I followed all the steps, and in TWO differents tablets, and I loosed al data (like installing all new firmware).

In the other hand, the new boot logo works as primised.

So: Thank you very much, mikeNG!

I don't know if they work on the 512MB version because I don't have one, you can try it and tell me.

Hmm, mode 1 never works for me, strange...
Thanks for telling me about the boot logo, I will change the description.
Also check my other thread about ClockworkMod Recovery, in which you can take backup of your rom!

I can confirm that both flash tool and recovery work for the 512MB Version too.
Only bug I had, was that I had to format the internal SD-Card (Because of the cache partition resizing)
Good work, keep going :-D
