Post Is this realy a Haipad M8? USB-Driver doesn´t work
Hi there,

at first i have to apologize for posting some german content.

I have trouble with downloading from google market, most times it starts downloading and at 100% installation doesn´t start.

I bought this tablet:
http://www.eurtabletpc.com/android2-3-kapazit-t-bildschirm-wifi-8g-512m-speicherung-maximal-extra-speicherung-bis-zu-32g-tablet-pc-8-zoll-multi-touch-p-198331
which looks the same as this one
http://www.efox-shop.com/hapad-m8-android2-3-wifi-8g-512m-speicherung-maximal-extra-speicherung-bis-zu-32g-tablet-pc-8-zoll-multi-touch-kapazit-t-bildschirm-p-198298#view_reviews

only difference i see is the memory 512MB to 1GB

On the case it says "MID" and on a Barcodelabel is written CEMM8.

Android phoneinfo:
Modelnumber: fj_vortex
Android: 2.3
Baseband: unknown
Kernel: 2.6.35.7; zjd@dtlinuxserver #45
Build: fj_vortex-userdebug 2.3 GRH55 eng.zjd.20110824.115816 test-keys

From the app Android System Info (which i could download):
CPU ABI: armeabi-v7a
Manufacturer: vimicro
Device: vortex

I found a posting about this problem here and for trying to solve it i tried to root the device using the FAQ.

And here comes my first and basic problem:
Device is set to usb-debugging.
My PC runs with XPpro SP2. When connecting the pad it is recognized and i try to install the driver from the downloaded package. Unfortunately it seems to be not the right one for the device.
I installed the driver manually with the same effect. The pad is recognized and the system is still looking for a driver.
2 drives are established and i am able to copy files to one of them.

So my question(s):
Is it a compatible device?
Am i doing the installation right?
Is another/modified driver neccessary

thanks in advance,

J.

Must be Android Composite ADB Interface in the list of devices:

What is the hardware ID (VID&PID) of the your tablet? Haipad M8 has the VID_0BB4 & PID_0C87

That certainly does look like a Haipad M8 if I ever saw one. I 'fixed' market downloads by

1) Increase your cache partition - Read the "Q: How to increase the /cache partition?" on the FAQ at: haipad-m8-vimicro-vc882-t10830.html
Note: I did this when I re-flashed to the latest firmware.

2) installing the latest market apk,
Thread: market-3-3-11-t11057.html

There is a catch though, not all apps will be available in the market after #2. For example, cordy does not show up anymore for me but the market complains that "this application is not compatible with your device". This can be fixed through more hackery, but I've been busy with other things (namely getting wifi dongles to properly work).

Still the drive isn´t installed an in my System i find the device with a yellow question mark in section other devices
it is named: Android for Vortex
Details show: USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C87&MI_01\6&32CF9A74&0&0001

Image

Is there a solution by changing this in the android_winusb.inf

;HaiPad M8
%SingleAdbInterface% =USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C87&MI_01
%CompositeAdbInterface% =USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C87&REV_0216&MI_01

to
%Vortex for Android% =USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C87&REV_0216&MI_01

Sometimes its a bit difficult to communicate cause of worldwide help ;)
May be i have to learn kyrillic :)

Post Driver installed
Hi all,
got a solution for my problem of not working installation of the USB-driver.
I checked the inf-file of the modified USB-driver downloaded from here http://www.chinadigitalcomm.com/haipad-m8-vimicro-vc882-t10830.html

at this section:
Quote:
Q: How to root the Haipad M8?
A: You need the GingerBreak and some manual work.
You need to have an installed Android SDK with adb.exe or take this archive with adb.exe only. And you need to have a modified USB driver.

In the line for the M8 was written:
Code:
;HaiPad M8
%SingleAdbInterface%      =USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C87&MI_01
%CompositeAdbInterface%     =USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C87&REV_0216&MI_01

i changed the code as written in the other lines to:
Code:
;Google NexusOne
%SingleAdbInterface%        = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_0D02
%CompositeAdbInterface%     = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_0D02&MI_01
%SingleAdbInterface%        = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_4E11
%CompositeAdbInterface%     = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_4E12&MI_01

;HaiPad M8
%SingleAdbInterface%        = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C87&MI_01
%CompositeAdbInterface%     = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C87&REV_0216&MI_01

attached my M8 and :D
The installation routine started as usual, i pointed to the inf-file and the bloody damned USB-driver installed.

@GrisGreyler: For being the poster of the FAQ you should check this out?

So lets try the next step of rooting.

you need now install a custom USB Driver from here http://www.mediafire.com/?is6d853g7hrimrg and install as new drivers for Device Android for Vortex.
In my post above the problem was a defekt USB cable after change to new everything works fine.

EDIT: after Reloading the link i got a download-button. It is the same package as i loaded from the FAQ, same error in .inf-file

Yes, it's my mistake. :( I replaced the usb_driver.zip with the correct archive.
