Post flash problems
pls excuse double post:

Hi Cheyee,

can you help please? I have a Novo 8 and a Novo Fire and both seem to have problems with flash
(at the same adress) - however the Novo 8 throws also lots of errors during operation.

I dont know how to change file systems (if theres one which is superior in surviving flash cells problems)
and how to find which partition actually has which filesystem (yaffs2/ubi/ext2-4/fat). However internal
flash is disappearing during operation and doesnt take files without bringing up strange errors.

I formatted a part of the flash with the (h)flash_erase command,
but if I use -N switch it cannot find obj file (maybe i do not recall error message 100% correct)
and it throws errors and does nothing, only works without that switch.
And I dont know what it thinks blocks are and which size they have.

I do not know how to calculate offset for erasure and which restore procedure to use if I want
to erase as much as possible of the flash out of the error messages. I dont know if
I can use the flash software from Novo Fire: http://www.lokumrom.com/index.php/Using_AML_Flash
for to revive a Novo 8 with a absolutely clean flash (works with fire tough)...

Another option is to instruct the boot loader not to use the first flash module, but I dont know how to do
it and I dont have a debug interface. Pls help!

- if I devide to exchange flash chips by soldering - to shiny new ones or exchange they both ones installed,
maybe by just exchanging one adress line - what shall I do?

I do not know how to make a android os install that boots of my class 10 16 gb tf card and stays there.
Anyway thats faster.

I dont know how to find a linux image for the sd card that includes ram tests and flash tests.
I have downloaded the one available from market (debian), but it runs off top android and gets corrupted
when upgrading to the most modern packages and to learn that takes a long run time.

I have linked my ainol datasheets and Novo 8 PCB scan collection with DMESG included for your reference:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/kdwssyf6v ... tnovo8.zip

Can I use my cheap chinese USB sound card with the Novo 8 if I post output of "USB Device Manager",
"USB HostController" or UsbAudioTesterRoot" from market for letting you know about its module needs?
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/USB-Soun ... 43971.html
... it says: CM108 chip...

Pls show me the way and motivate me. However I got a USB stick with 4 flash chips of the broken type,
if someone needs spare parts pls ask.

The archive link includes hi res pcb scans and datasheets needed if one wants to connect sata.

Maybe lots of old tablets get broken with time due to worn out flash. How to construct a partition layout that
spares broken parts easier and automatic?

Why the tec dokumentation in the internet does not mention that these file systems for flash do not work good
and why there are no powerfull working command line utils and tools (commands and disk or tf images) for the happy end user
Id wish to be!

Cant we have a tool to lock out file system read errors on user level?

best regards,
Erwin

I have found this new imaging software for sd cards (not only the chinese imaging software version I used for
making a emergency restore boot tf):
http://www.alexpage.de/

and I have found this links for identifying flash spares:
http://flashboot.ru/index.php?name=iflash
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/sho ... -Data-Base
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... NQVE#gid=0

this command set seems to work well for my problems, but it doesnt work on the novo 8 without your knowledgefull intervention:
http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-all- ... mands.html

also I have found that the 5.x recovery from cyanogenmod with aml autoscript works for flashing unsigned firmware images,
but errors reappear shortly after flashing... can the cyanogenmodflashversion inculde diagnosis tools and modes please!

also I have found that the newest skype version from the market doesnt work with the Novo 8 camera, can you post your working version pls?
I dont have it anymore...

(dont like to use adb if not needed as it clutters my pcs to have installed development for every item i own)
(Ainol knows that all the flash gets broken because ssd use same chip, but use better controller, so why
they do not provide jumper on mainboard for exchanging both chips? You know, that I know that USB sticks that boots windos
lives not longer than 2 years, because of the missing bad error management)
(having done recherche work it would be logical paranoia to say that they feed 16 gb pads with bad flash)

I can't help with the flash issue, but http://www.chinadigitalcomm.com/post26726.html#p26726 is what I found when experimenting with USB sound.

Post Re: flash problems
heat the flash with your hot air soldering equipment and read
about r/w cycles from independent sources
http://static.usenix.org/event/hotstora ... les/Wu.pdf

read how the linux freaks approach the problem of broken flash,
another thread claims driver broken
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1843062

why the flash gets broken from android
http://blog.datalight.com/write-amplifi ... ion-battle

booting from sd card with switch (also the mp3 players enter diag mode
when shorting certain flash pins)
http://openlinux.amlogic.com/wiki/index ... 726M_Howto

piggy backing for exchanging broken flash, maybe use this v5
flash utility from the friends from the cyanogenmod or use
2nd flash chip positon and mess with CE
